I am getting antsy!

I wish I could share this bit of new with all of you ladies but I just cannot afford for certain people to see it prior to coming and visiting us this weekend! I know a couple of you already know what it is! Hmmm... Maybe a hint would be nice?

Hint #1: I commented on Expat Girl's blog a little bit ago. I believe it was her post with all the gorgeous dresses. She left a comment on my previous post. Go check her out and see if you can figure it out!

I can't say much right now

So I can't give any details right now but by next week I'll be able to tell you some new, and I would say very exciting news.

Vent I suppose

You don't have to read this  if you don't want to. Idk where I am going to go with it but here I go.

I have been slightly bummed lately about not having a bachelors degree in anything. I REALLY want to get my degree for occupational therapy but as I mentioned before the problems are that UNCW is about an hour or more from my house and you can't take that degree online. It's not like I'm not working. I have a job that I actually like a lot. There are a couple main problems with my job though. I get paid under the table. Yea that mean it's untaxed money but it also means that I only get paid on Fridays if my bosses are in the office on Friday AND remember to get cash out of the bank. Also, I get $8 an hr and only work 30 hours at most. Some weeks I only work like 5 hours for one agent and the full 10 for the other 2 so I don't even make as much.

I am not the type of person to demand things or to really even voice my opinion to my bosses or people who let's say, intimidate me. My job consists of doing A LOT. I have to communicate with clients, buyers and sellers, their agents, builders, attorneys, surveyors, designers, fill out contracts and make sure they are signed by everyone and that they get to the places they need to be. I take listings and input them into the MLS's online so that people can view the houses. I have to keep those up to date with current information as well as making sure all the contact information is correct and that appointments for showings are set. Which also means I have to set up codes for lock boxes when people need to enter a house. I also create flyers for houses which is not as easy as it sounds. They are very particular and literally expect professional quality. I have to make sure closings are set and make sure everyone knows when and where to be. All while being a personal assistant in any other way you can imagine.
Did I mention that I do all of this for 3 Real Estate Agents?? So I do all of this 3 times!!! Let's just say my day planner is my best friend and my email and phone are absolute necessities.

Anyways, the point of that wasn't to complain. I love being busy and high speed. I just think that I should be getting paid way more than $8 an hr and I definitely should get 30 hours no matter what. It should be their job to utilize me not my job to make sure I get 10 hours out of them. I don't just sit behind a desk and type or talk on the phone. I also have to do errands like sign changes or going to open houses. I honestly think I should be making more around $12-$15 an hour. I believe that is reasonable for the amount of work I have to do and the fact that I am on call for them 24/7.

The problem is I really don't have the balls (for lack of a better phrase) to say anything to them. I at the absolute least would like to be paid on time every week. I hate worrying about being able to pay my bills because I don't know who is going to be in the office with cash or not. It's very stressful.

This is why I want to get my degree. I would make a ton more and have a salary which means steady paychecks. The problem is I can't not work. We need the money. I don't know what to do.

Today.

Today Mr. Sykes and I are going to the beach!! I loooooove the beach. I realize that I have been absolutely awful at adding pictures to my blogs so I will try harder to get better again. It would help if I had that beautiful new camera ;-) haha.

Ahhhh, Friday.

Today is the day I wait all week for. I am praying that my work day goes by super fast and that Mr. Sykes gets out of work on time or maybe even early. We want to go see Grown Ups but we are not late show people. Actually, I really can't wait until tomorrow. We are going to the beach :-) I absolutely LOOOOOVEEEE going to the beach. It's so calming and you can't help but feel good. Well, for the first hour or so. Then the sand starts to be a pain in the butt and you realize that the ocean floor and beach should be made of something a little less annoying. You go in the ocean to wash it off but the ocean has it's own annoying texture. Blahhh. There is no going around it. 

Hopefully this weekend Nicole from Flip Flops and Combat Boots and I will be double dating at some point. Maybe triple dating if we can get Katie from Diary of a Disgruntled Marine Girlfriend and her lover boy Frank to join us. OMG! Ladies pleaseeeeeee can we?? That would be super amazing. 

Am I a bad person for it being past 5 months since our wedding and I still haven't sent thank you's out? I feel awful but holy cow time flies. There is a little old lady from home who gave us this really pretty antique either ash tray or relish dish. She is really old so she is really old fashioned and Mr Syke's Grandmother constantly has to remind us to send her a thank you note because she is getting all fussy! It's not like we are ungrateful. We just are very forgetful. One of these days I am going to sit down and write everyone a thank you. Until then, I am writing the little old lady one because I don't want to keep disappointing her when she goes to her mailbox! 

Anyways, this weekend is a super duper special one. I just realized that we can have a quadruple date!!! Anna from Showtimes and Dog Tags will be coming down this weekend!! FINALLY!!! Let me tell you, we have been planning this very moment since the boys went to boot camp. Her, Angela and I have  been planning how awesome it would be if all our men got stationed at the same base, preferably Lejeune, and well 2 out of 3 we got it! Unfortunately Angela's knucklehead of a Marine fiance broke off the engagement and relationship all together. I think he just needs time to be a marine or something. Sooooo angry at him BUTTTT, luckily Angela only lives a couple hours away! We are all going to be in the same state. Woohoo!! From my birthday weekend I happen to now know that there is a fantastic seafood place in Angela's town so if seeing her isn't enough of an incentive then that seafood sure will help! haha.

I need to get more creative...

I see all of these really awesome things on everyones pages like scrolly things and cool links and such. I need to take some time to figure out how to do these things!! I feel old or something haha.

I couldn't even make my own button! My goal for as soon as I can accomplish it is to learn more about blog design. I'll keep y'all posted!
