My car is totaled. I barely injured the thing. I got in a fender bender going about 25 mph so it barely looked damaged at all. Well that's because my car had like 170,000 miles on it and 2 bumps on the back from a garbage truck and I think my step mom did the other one. That was actually a funny story. But anyways, we are getting hardly anything for the car. So now we have to take another loan out for a car. We are looking to get a new/used car. I would love a brand new car but with what we are looking at that's not going to happen. So we're looking at used cars with less than 50,000 miles on it. We both really like the Jeep Compass and Cherokee. We also like a couple other cars and suv's. What I want to know is do any of you have a car or suv that you are absolutely in love with? We could really use some advice as what to get!
Thanks girls!

No advice on what to get, but you can get some awesome deals on Craigslist!
ReplyDeleteI have a Nissan Xterra and am completely in love with it!!! I have had it for 4 years and have not had a single problem. I like how big it is and how high I sit off the road {I'm tiny so I like to be up high} No, it is not good on gas, but no suv is really. It fits a ton of stuff and is very comfortable {we drove it from Jersey to Florida and back and had no problems!] I have about 40,000 miles on it and like I said, I have not had a single problem with it yet.
ReplyDeleteYou might have to drive to a bigger city, but go to CarMax. All the cars are already inspected by a dealer to make sure you are getting a really good car. When I got mine, it was only 1 year old and still had the factory 4 year warranty. It is seriously the best place in NC to get cars.
ReplyDeleteI have a Suzuki Grand Vitara and I love it! It's a compact SUV like a rav4 type thing. It's small (and still fits my two giant britax carseats) and has room in the back for groceries. Its good on gas too. Everyone thinks when they have kids they have to buy some giant SUV...try out the small ones!!! And foreign cars run forever!
ReplyDeleteYou definitely want an SUV if possible, the Honda CR-V's are great and Mazda's smaller SUV's. A few of my friends have them and they have never had problems, great on gas and holds plenty of "stuff" in the back. They are the perfect cars to have car seats in :) You are going to want the space! I am a nanny and tote around the kids everywhere they need to go.. It got really hard in my honda civic, thank goodness their parents have an extra vehicle so I can drive them in the Expedition. Good luck on the search.
ReplyDeletep.s. Always ask the seller if you can take it to your own mechaninc too! It helps to have someone of your choice check out everything before you invest in it.
I second the carmax comment....best place to buy a car, period. I got mine there! They have great military discounts too!
ReplyDeleteI loved my Honda Element, the most versatile and roomy small suv of them ALL - we hauled anything and everything in that car! It was so easy to reconfigure the seats, and we had the one without carpet - so we could literally HOSE the whole thing out if we had to! The only thing I didn't love about it was the fuel economy...I barely got 20 mpg, and when gas was heading toward $5/gallon here in so-cal, I traded my Element in for a Civic Hybrid. Now I get an average of 40 mpg, but I do miss the space (especially with another baby on the way! Thank goodness the older ones are no longer in car seats, because a Civic will barely fit ONE car seat at a time). Aside from being cramped, though, I do love my Civic. I did the math the other day, and figured out that my Civic has already SAVED me $4500 in gas based on the difference in mpg between it and the old Element - that's a conservative estimate, based on gas being an average of $3/gal for the 80,000 miles I have driven this car so far, when in truth gas has been over $3 quite a lot (like right now)
ReplyDeleteI would recommend for sure a Honda, Toyota, or Nissan for reliability and future resale value though.
i just bought a honda accord and i absoulutely LOVE it. its big and roomy (perfect for a baby ;)) and has all kinds of fun gadgets. I bought a brand new one but I looked at quite a few used ones and they were all very reasonably priced! and hondas last forever!
ReplyDeleteI have a Nissan Versa Hatchback and LOVE IT!!! Gets over 30 miles to the gallon, comfortably sits 4 people and is pretty cheap.
