Is it completely awful that I am terrified to give birth? Not for the pain. I can deal with pain. I am terrified because I hate going to the OB and showing him my hoo ha let alone having it on display for however long labor will take and with more people around!
I know that once I go into labor all I will care about is getting the baby out of me safely and quickly but until then I have quite a while to think about it.
Then the other option, C section, makes me even more crazy! I've seen the operation taking place and it's absolutely positively DISGUSTING!!! I have an extremely weak stomach so blood and cuts and anything along those lines makes me disgusted. Thinking about a doctor slicing open my stomach and pushing my organs around and just digging around in there for a baby creeps me out.
Did anyone else go through this? It makes me feel like an awful mom :-(

It doesn't make you an awful mom! I've always been kinda grossed out about the thought of people staring at my hoo-ha! but once your in the "zone" I'm sure you forget about it all together!
ReplyDeleteI was soooooo nervous about this. So modest. And then the time comes and you honestly don't care at all- you just want the baby out!
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't worry about it too much. At that point, you will just be concentrating on the birth and not so much people seeing your hoo-ha. Plus, during a C-section, you don't feel anything nor do you see anything since they put up a "tarp thing" in front of your face. They did that to me when I had my wrist surgery (since I was awake) so you don't have to worry about seeing anything. I understand how you feel though. Try not to worry too much and you will be fine! =)
ReplyDeleteAwww don't feel bad, everyone is scared of birth it is a completely unknown thing and people like to tell you horror stories when you're pregnant which I neverrrr worked out. I would be like shhhhhh! Honestly, once you are in labour you don't care who can see what, you just go with the flow and by then you will have had enough OB appts to be more comfortable with it all.
ReplyDeleteNah you aren't an awful Mom, a bit squeemish and you'll get over that as soon as you have kids lol You are normal and SANE. Many women go through these feelings and emotions. You will feel this fear until you get there and then all you'll be thinking about is baby baby baby come to me and you'll never think about your bizz on display. They have all seen it before so it wont be anything new to them. ; )
ReplyDeleteIt does not make you awful!! I am sure a lot of women feel the same way. When we go to the lady doctor we "zone out to our happy places" and look at that far off spot on the wall hoping it will be over fast.
ReplyDeleteI am sure when you give birth you will have so many other things on your mind you won't care. And the end result will be so worth it that nothing else will matter!
When you have a C-Section they put a cloth up so you cannot see anything at all. My mom said with my brother at least that epidural had her so numb she didn't even feel it. With me there was not much time so she felt a little bit, but nothing too awful.
Avoid a csection at all costs. The recovery time is 6 times longer than a vaginal birth. It makes it hard to do normal mommy task, like nurse, get up out of bed even. Your doctor will look at your "stuff" a million more times before delivery that by the time baby is ready...you won't care anymore. Honestly...Id be more worried about the pain!!!! LOL!
ReplyDeleteAww thanks everyone!! I feel a lot better knowing it's a conscious about not caring once I go into labor. That is what I am hoping for lol.
ReplyDeleteNot awful! I'd be just as scared as you! It will all be fine in the moment though.
