I need a niche

I really need to find something I am really good at. Some people are really crafty or good at sewing so they can market that and have a fun job they can do at home. Or you see people who are just really good at their job w/e it is so they enjoy every day of work. Why am I not good at anything? I think it has something to do with being an athlete all my life. Ever since I was a little girl I've been all about sports. I danced for 12 years and then discovered volleyball and track and softball and basketball. I think being so focused on sports made me not discover any other skills. I even still regret giving up dance. I was a year away from being able to do point ballet and I stopped for other sports. I could at least have continued that and been a dance teacher! DAMN!

This little boo me fest is brought on by realizing I don't think I'll ever have a job I enjoy. If I knew what I was good at or would enjoy I would be able to hone in on a bachelors degree. Since I don't know what I want to do and I'm not really good at anything I am not wasting my money and time. It would be awesome to get lucky enough to have a skill that I didn't even need a degree for.

I would love to try photography because I feel drawn to it but I can't afford the camera I want and really need in order to make it something more than just ordinary picture taking.

Isn't life grand?

  1. Sorry girls I accidentally rejected instead of publishing your comments. I read them first though I just clicked the wrong button. I seriously think being a mom should make us an income. I mean it's definitely a full time job! jeesh. I just feel so stuck. Like I am never going to find what I am supposed to do and therefore never fully enjoy life. It's a huge bummer.

  2. Stay encouraged...you are young and you will find something you love to do! Look on ebay for used cameras, you might find something there and maybe your uncle has an old back up he'll let you borrow. I was able to borrow one and then saved up for the new one. You WILL find out what you're supposed to do with your life! God has a plan!

  3. Why don't you take a few courses at the community college and see if you find anything that you love. I went to school thinking I was going to want to do one thing and in my pursuit of finding a minor I found what I fell in love with. That first introductory course caught my eye and so I knew I would love doing something in that field. Just know that you will find something, just trust yourself because something will just drop into your lap one day and you will be happy!

  4. You don't need an awesome SLR to take good photos. (Even though they're a lot of fun to work with). A lot of the time the quality of a photograph has more to do with the photographer than the camera. I started off with a basic Kodak EasyShare when I got into photography. It took really impressive photos. Sure, I love my SLR, but I don't depend on it for great shots.

  5. That is a great idea with the community college courses. I have my associates in liberal arts but I took all of my main courses to get them out of the way. I never actually took classes I enjoyed. Thank you!!

And I know that a lot of point and shoots take great photos but I want to eventually make this something I can do for people like homecoming photos or family photos and I feel like they expect to see a big fancy camera. Plus I would love to learn more about using a bigger camera with lots of lenses to fit my needs.
