Dog vs. Leather

I bought my new car without thinking about my dog. My car has leather seats and my dog has nails. Not a good combination. I put a fitted sheet over the back seat and although it did work it was a pain in the ass and looked ridiculous. Plus, when I pulled in the driveway and got out of my car my dog jumped over the seat and came out my door leaving a little rub mark on my seat. I almost strangled him.

Has anyone run into this? What did you do? My husband suggested putting the back seats down and letting him lay on that but I am afraid he will crawl around in the trunk and idk how safe that is.

Your advice and wisdom would be awesome!

Thanks!

  2. Bo never does either with the couches but the car leather is softer and Im terrified that on the 13 hr car ride to NY he's going to do some serious damage. Idk what to do.

  3. I think Petsmart may have coveres for your seat that are more durable! Take Bo to have his nails buffed and filed to elimate the sharpness!
    sorry - that's all I have :o(
    Good Luck

  4. His nails were freshly cut and buffed when he ran across my seat. I will look into the actual car seat covers though. Thank you! :-)

  5. We've always put a towel across the back seat and it's worked pretty well
